Duplex printer what is it

Usually, when printing on a printer, only one side of the sheet is used. In some cases, you need to use both sides of the paper and save money on consumables. Such printing is called duplex. Read further in the article about what duplex is and how to use it.

What is a duplex?

Duplex is a special printing method used in modern printers and MFP. This is a kind of additional option, which consists in passing the material along another "road". At the same time, a two-sided printing will be obtained without human help, which significantly saves materials and labor costs.

Duplex is convenient for the development and production of mass printing: booklets, information brochures, greetings, student work. Often it is bought for large offices in order to ensure uninterrupted operation for printing invoices, photocopies of contracts or other matters. But in home use, he is unlikely to find a worthy use, except for the preparation of school reports.

REFERENCE! Make sure the printer has two-sided print reception by better studying the technical documentation or the manufacturer’s official online service. You can consult at the point of sale at the time of purchase or at a service center.

How does it look and where is it located?

The essential difference between a duplex printer from a device without it is its size. Duplex models have large dimensions, since additional space is needed to return the sheet in another way. However, the latest developments already allow to place the duplex module inside the case, and it is already impossible to visually distinguish the model from the usual and common one. But in a toner refill such a printer does not differ from devices where there is no such print option. Before the user starts downloading, certain settings are made. In practice, the operation of the device is as follows:

  • At first there is a printout from one side of the leaflet only.
  • Then the paper is grabbed by the wheels inward.
  • For the second time, it passes through the fotovalo, where the toner in the form of a picture has already been magnetic.
  • Then he peremazhnichivaetsya on paper and the material is sent to the furnace. For the same reason, the paper comes out warm or even hot.
  • The paint is cauterized to the coating and the output is a sheet with data on both sides.
  • The finished work is sent to the exit, and the next sheet is drawn out of the paper feed tank.

IMPORTANT! If, after the completion of the process, a warning is displayed on one of the parties with a suggestion to turn the paper over, this device is not considered a duplex.

How to use duplex

Before purchasing a printer, it is important to know in advance the scale of its work. If you plan to use a couple of times a week, then a cheap inkjet version will do. For frequent and daily use, the laser model should be preferred. They are easier to use, have inexpensive refueling and a large number of consumables. To configure two-way output, follow these instructions:

  • Before starting the process should be numbered every page.
  • At the top of the text editor Word find the tab "Insert" and the column headers and page numbers.
  • Then refine and set the mirror fields.
  • To do this, in the "Page Layout" section, go through the "Fields" tab and set the "Mirror Fields".
  • To set the setting, go to "File" and in the "Print" section, select the item "Duplex printing".
  • To fix the function, click on the "Print" button.

ATTENTION! In terms of operation, duplex devices are simple and convenient and are no different from ordinary ones.

Selecting a new printer is not an easy task, as there are many models with different characteristics. Buying a model with duplex can significantly save time on manual work when printing. All work is done automatically, and the user at this time can do other things. The technology is widely used in inkjet and laser printers, including for home use.
