DIY loft cabinet

Loft style came to us from the United States, where in the 40s of the last century warehouses, attics and attics were heavily settled in, because the number of housing was sorely lacking. Their arrangement was carried out at a fast pace, so the initial appearance remained almost unchanged - only minor amendments were made to make the premises suitable for living. The style is widespread, because it has a special charm and is undemanding in design, and also makes it possible to arrange it relatively inexpensively. As for the furniture - it is unusual and simple, but not everyone will be able to assemble it. For example, a do-it-yourself loft-style wardrobe - is it possible for a person who has no experience to do this?

Style features

Loft style erases borders and borders - the most daring and unusual decisions are permissible in it, which has become a real discovery for creative and modern people. The premises are delightful and original, while they are characterized by such features as:

  • large windows without curtains and curtains;
  • inadmissibility of drywall and other partitions;
  • lack of decoration of brick walls;
  • concrete floors are covered only with wooden flooring;
  • the presence of a stove, fireplace, ceiling beams is permissible;
  • modern lighting devices are used;
  • it is necessary to have antique furniture or really old shelves and cabinets.

The loft is divided into: glamorous (bright interior elements), bohemian (the presence of ancient objects that are of high value), industrial (a minimum of decor and furniture).

How to create a do-it-yourself loft cabinet?

The most overall piece of furniture is best made of wood and metal. At the same time, all sorts of floral patterns and ornaments will be redundant, because the industrial style is characterized by avarice and simplicity. If the cabinet is planned with a mirror, then the latter is best collected from several fragments. Dark shades should prevail, it is possible to use different varieties of wood, and its tattered appearance will be only a plus. Making furniture with your own hands is impossible without a drill with drills, a screwdriver and self-tapping screws, a jigsaw, sandpaper, tape measure and pencil, boards and a metal corner 30x50 mm (can be replaced with a pipe 20x50 mm). The process includes several stages:

  1. Development of a cabinet model, drawing up its drawing on paper, indicating all sizes, material, number of shelves and the distance between them.
  2. The sections of the corner or pipes are welded into a single structure, after which they are carefully cleaned at the edges and in the places of welding, so that there is no burr. Then it is painted.
  3. Boards for shelves are cut, processed with an emery cloth until smooth, and then painted.
  4. The final stage is the assembly of the entire cabinet - the bottom and the cover, shelves and rear wall are screwed to the frame.

As for the choice of the shade of paint, the best option is to match the prevailing colors of the room. If you give the cabinet the tone of the wall, it will become almost invisible. If you want to highlight it, then the paint should contrast with the surrounding interior and the design of the home.
